Advice on alloys

I'm thinking about buying a new set of alloys for my 2003 9n. I have to admit I've never changed the wheels before, and so am just a little bit cautious about the whole thing.

I'm looking at a set of refurbished Audi TT comps which look VERY nice. They are 17x7.5J with a 32mm offset. I've seen other members who've fitted them, but am unsure whether they will need any extra work to get them to fit correctly? Should they just go straight on? Am I likely to have any problems with them?

Finally, what kind of price should I be offering for a refurbished set (come with fairly worn Yokohama Parada Spec 2 tyres).
And how much will I be looking at to eventually replace the said tyres with standard road tyres of the same dimensions?

No work need to fit they are the same stud pattern as your standard alloys.

As for prise that all depends on the condition of the alloys, I have seen those go for £500 on eBay

And tyres your looking around £300 for 4 new good quality rubber. You will need 205/40/17 mind

Ok, so upgrading from a set of standard 14" steel wheels, will I notice any handling difference? Am I likely to get any rubbing under normal driving conditions? I heard there are issues with speedometer accuracy with 17" wheels?

For tyres, is that £300 for a set of simple road tyres? I'm not looking for performance grade stuff.

for some basic tires you could get a deal for £2oo i would've thought.

as for handling and speedo, it wont make any difference really as they will be the same rolling radius (with correct tires) as your 14" alloys.
my speedo with TT wheels is spot on. exactly what it says, where as yours at the minuit will be 3/4mph out. (normally below actual speed)

i paid £150 for mine with decent tires. (the tires were wront size though)
and £100ish to refurb.

As pip says you can get tyres for £200 for 4 from kwik fit and the like or a cheaper way is to buy 4 tyres off eBay and get a local tyre place to fit them for you

As Long as your tyres are 205/40 your speedo will be correct
