1.4l 8v Engine

Post by BalinJu »

ok i think that this question poped out loads of times but i did not find it in this forum, maybe i did not search well.

basically when i try to find some modz for my engine on the net, i never find anything, i find may things for 2.0l golf engines but i searched for a 16v cylinder head for ages and never found one :(

even so for racing cams and other things, so if you would like to give me a help on this i would apreciate a lot like listing some sites and if you could also list any modifications that you did to your engine to get your mk4 faster, just post it here :)

thankx for you help

Piper make cams for it IIRC...

K&N and RAM AIR make induction kits for it. (I know because I had both on mine... Oh, and RAM AIR used my car to test their kit on!)

Loads of companies make exhaust systems for it...

Hope that helps!

basically that did not help :(
i got already a high performance exhaust system, and an induction kit nearly ready, what i am looking for now is a good cylinder head, i have an 8v and want to fit a 16v one possibly with dohc :) and some racing cams :) maybe i could come somewhere around 100bhp.

so i basically anyone knows any manufacture that modifies these kind of engines, i would highly appriciate if u tell me his name.

thankx again.

Well why not use the 16v head that VW uses? It would bolt straight on if the bore and stroke of the engines is the same. I think. Better check first.

Then port + polish that, fit sharper cams, polish the valves, fit stiffer valve springs (if need be), add lightweight pullies, or go mad and drill out the block and replace the pistons with bigger ones. Or fit a turbo.

Basically, any good tuner will be able to help you out with the above. AFAIK, there's no manufacturer that makes aftermarket heads.

theres not a great deal you can do with the 8valve to increase the brake, any honest tuner will admit to that, get a 16v transplant!i seen 16valves running with 170 brake in holland
