Another newb requiring help :P

Post by mikey_boy »

Well where to start off?
I bought a 1996 vw polo off ebay for £280. Its the 1.4 se. Its not in bad nick, there is a bit of rust, and a few little shakes in the car. But what can i expect for that price. All i have bought for the car at the minute is a k&n induction kit. However i don't want to fit this until i have it lowered and new wheels. Which brings me onto the next part, what size wheels, i was thinking 15" but i am not sure, any of you got any ideas? Or any of you got any wheels you may wna sell??
Now as i have read and as i have seen the car may as well be on stilts it is too high, but how much do i lower it? people have said 90mm, people have said 60, what is the best 1?
Any help you lads nd lasses can help me with is greatly appreciated :D

Welcome to UK-Polos! :D

Nice cheap motoring for less than 300 notes! For the alloys, best to stick to 15's or 16's, look awful if you put anything bigger on! Or you can stick with 13's, as a few on here have done, & go for the 'roller skate' & low style! If you dont' really know what drop you want then why not get a set of coilovers, that way you can wind them down until you get your perfect stance that you are happy with.

Take a look in the members rides section for idea's & go from there.

How about dont fit it  Trust me, my car went into like a limp mode! limited to 70mph with the f*****g thing on, as soon as it was off it was fine!

Depends really, if your planning on going low 13" or 14" would be better. I have 15" atm and plan or going lower so they need to go LOL
