fixing tailgate light?

Post by narkotiq »

hey fellas, well i finally got my little 6n2, its a 1.0 but i'm a first time driver in belfast so it does the job. here's the deal...

i had the common fault of the rear screen washer coming off inside the tailgate, i fixed it without a problem.

the tailgate (open) light on my dash has never worked, but when i fixed the washer problem i have noticed it starting to flicker ever so slightly on my dash, so there must be a bit of power going to it.

does anybody know how to fix it so it works properly?

any help grealy aprreciated.

peace.

just pull the cable off mate, did it to mine last night, its just the mircochip has corroded and the legs snapp so the connection becomes weak! pull the cable off and it wont bother you again, or get yourself yo VW and get a new micro chip but there expensive for what they are!

I've just replaced the plug housing and rewired it and ordered a switch. Will be getting it on friday. Very easy job. Not too dear. Just over £10 for the switch. And just a couple of quid for the housing and connections/wires. A lot for what they are but genuine parts are always over priced. Worth it to be able to see whats in your boot.

Oh yeah you can fix it like i said, just buy a new microswitch, or just unplug it and the light wont ever come on or off again to let ya no the boot is open!
