Comfused Watts Hmm?

Post by Creedy »

Hey everyone.

Ive just changed alot of the bulbs on my car but need to also change the H1 Full beam lights and wondered what peoples recommendations were please?

Also, what watts are they normally, are they 60/55w?

If so, do i need to stick to this or can i get 100w bulbs of ebay for a brighter effect? or would this just not work?

Any help would be awesome.

Thanks

55w is the legal limit for the lamps in your headlights

i wouldn't buy lamps off ebay as they are usually rubbish

i'd recommend getting some by a named brand (osram, phillips etc)

check the seller's feedback on Ebay.. there is some good stuff on there..

I sell on Ebay... I dont sell sh*t.... only the best...

Ebay is almost an essential part of business and trading these days...

You will find a few guys on here who use Ebay for selling.. and have good reps...

Not a day doesnt go by where I dont go looking for something on Ebay..

You can save some seriouns money...

But maybe the bulbs are sh1t .. whow knows ????

Ok yeh i understand... My head lights and sidelights were both phillips.

was just looking at a few and the same figures came up for some cheaper one and wondered if they were e-approved and mentioned good brightness would they be okay?

Dink - You know 55w is the legal limit, if i were to run 100w bulbs, would this damage my headlights or fuses atall, or would the only problem being that they were illegal to run.

Thanks for your help

That's a pretty general term. There's some cracking bulb deals on there all the time. Given, there are alot of cheap kits also, but some very good ones also.

If your looking for something that has a nice tint, I'd recommend cheaper kits from eBay. They have a very scattered light pattern, as they're cheaply built, but this doesn't really apply for H1 bulbs as they're your full beams. you won't beat the colour of them in any Osram or Phillips bulbs either. But they won't be as bright.

Basically if you want bright lights, go with Osram Nightbreakers.

If you want sufficiently bright bulbs with a nice white/blueish tint, get some painted Japanese bulbs from eBay.

well the 100w lamp would pull 9.7 amps @ 14 v

and a 55w lamp would pull 5.3 amps @ 14v

plus you have to think about the extra heat aswell due to the efficiency of filament lamps being dire

also blue light is really bad as it doesn't reflect back aswell so they will seem even less effective aswell
