CarPC

Post by polo_dude »

Not entirely sure if most of you know, but a while back I installed a CarPC into the polo, but ripped it out, due to it having a really crap DIN sized USB/VGA touch-screen and causing me so many problems. Now, was trying to shift all the components that I had for it, but no-one would really take it off my hands. A while ago I was discussing my plans with pete, but I decided to change my plans and stick the CarPC back in. Now instead of the previous route that I took, which was having a built in preamp'd headunit/ touch-screen, I'm basically, going to get myself a standalone screen without any of these fancy features, just a plain, simple reliable VGA/USB integrated Touchscreen.

Now this means that, I'd need an amp to get audio from the computer to the speakers, now if I'm correct, to automatically turn on and off an amp you use a "remote cable" usually blue that you run from the headunit all the way down to the amp, now where I'm having a problem is, that I'm eliminating the use of a headunit. Therefore I have no remote cable, and this is my dilemma.

However my theory was that, on the computers PSU, what I did was spliced the ignition feed from the headunit's ISO block, and fed it to the ignition wire on the PSU, and as I would engage into ignition the PC would start up, now if I spliced, into the ignition on the headunit ISO block and then ran that all the way down to the AMP, would that turn on the AMP?
