Tyre Recommendations

Post by charlievwp »

Hey All,

Need to start considering changing a couple of tyres on the plop...soon to follow the other 2.
I'm on 205 / 45 / 16 (currently Dunlop SP Maxx)

I'm pretty skint at the mo so can't get a real decent set but don't want to compromise quality/handling.

Can anyone recommend a good brand or somewhere that has good deals etc?

To replace my current with the same again, would cost me £95/corner

Look on Ebay for Yoko S-drive 195/45/16. Around £90 for 2. I had them on my mk5 Polo GTi and found them great. Really grippy!!!

Hey all, decided where i'm going to get the new tyres now but still undecided about widths.

The standard size on my current ones is 205 / 45 / 16, and this prices up as £64.61 ea

What implications would there be having 195 / 45 / 16? This size comes up as £46.39 ea so around £70-80 cheaper for 4 :D

Would this knock the speedo out of sync?
Affect handling in any way?
Wear the tread any quicker?

Ah thanks but got sorted now.
Went with the Toyo T1-R's and very happy :D
Great quality tyre, although rather pricey on 16's :?
