HELP!!! Rear Coilover Problem

Post by Naz »

Hey All,

i hope this aint as serious as i think it is!

Was driving to work this morning and heard an almighty bang from the rear- checked the boot and check out my rear Leg..

ive got the raceland coilovers- can anyone tell from this pic whether the coilover is knackered or just a fitting issue they have been on the car for 4 months!

wow that's insane. you sure you got all the bolts and washers the right way round when you installed the coilies?

you cant drive like that.

i'd get a new set of rear mounts asap, to keep them even. i wouldnt trust that mount no matter how fine it looks after inspection. also check the strut to check it hasnt bent or anything.

It could be your rear strut mount that needs replacing. I had to replace mine as mine did something similar before i had even fitted it propely but that was to the front ones. See your car has probably never had them changed and they have taken alot of knocks and bangs from the old suspension, when you put the coilovers on they are alot more compressed then the original springs therefore putting more tension on the strut mount.

If anyone has ever herd a slight knocking sound, like what i had, then 9/10 of the time it is strut mounts that need replacing.

I got some decent ones from a tuning place near me that cost me £50 for two! When i compared the old to the new you could tell the old ones were knackered. Bit expensive but that is what i reckon it could be. Powerflex dont do them as a enquired about them. Mine are kyb i think. I beleive they do have a web site and they are actually uprated mounts to.

If you want when im back that way as im home, i can go in and get a part number or something, find out a price and will let you know monday or tuesday. Hope this helps.
