Now with lookig at that link its gae me another question:

How do you sort teh 'flakey' hadn grabs? ust sadn them down-repaint them or buy new ones? as it really does look a mess.

with vag parts shut down it could be a second hand jobbie or main stealer! basically take your front door cards off and look where the handle sits behind. you will see either screws or nuts (carnt remember). basically undo them and the handle will come away. just have to remove the door mirror adjuster and put in new handle when you swop over the drivers side handle.

Buy new ones mate. They cost around £13 a set, plus inserts.
