DVD player to handbrake??

Post by charliec125 »

Hey Guys

Im kinda new here, Just got a JVC-AVX44, a real nice dvd/radio player.
Ive never fitted my own radio before,being a girl im not all that clued up on it :lol: . so i plugged in what i could see and hoped it worked.
CD worked, so far so good.
DVD played and i could hear it but no picture, It needs to be connected to the handbrake in order to play the movie.

Does anyone know a way around this and how hard it is to do?

Thank you in advance!

it really is nice and simple :)
i have a jvc unit myself, nifty little things

The green cable that runs from the head unit is the earth as mentioned before, to make the dvds work all you need to do it connect the green wire to the metal of the car.
i found a bolt on the passengers side of my 6n2 that did this for me. To test if the bolt doe ground your head unit, i played the dvd so i could hear the sound, and literally just stripped the green wire and touched lots of different bolts inside the car untill i saw a picture!
then simply loosen the bolt that you choose, and then put the wire in between and tighten back up! make sure you strip the plastic casing of the wire mind other wise nothing will happen try to have about a cm of bare wire connected to the bolt :P

And thats it! done!
it also means you can be driving as scott said and watch your dvds at the same time, but we both know that people wouldnt be irresponsible and do that!

hope it helps, if you need any more advice then drop me a pm

if you see my previous post unless you are colour blind it is impossible to get wrong
connect green to black simple
it is so easy don't waste time looking for an earth bolt when you have it in the h/u loom
doing it this way means also that if you take it out to put into another car you don't need to waste time unneccessarily looking for an earth bolt
you just plug it in and away you go
i have been working in the car audio and security industry for 20 years so listen to what i am saying it really is not that difficult

there is about 5 black cables and none say earth cable, you obviously havent seen one of these. I looked threw all the manuals aswell.

I have now attached it to a metal plate by the gear stick (easy to pull out if the cops pull be over) lol

Thank you for all your help guys..

it will be in the iso plug and when plugged into the factory iso it will be directly connected to the thick brown (earth)on the cars iso plug
the wiring colours for a jvc are NO different to any other car stereo
the wiring will be as follows
in one iso plug you will have
yellow =12v+
red = ign live
blue = antenna/remote out
orange = illumination
black = earth
light green = handbrake
brown = telephone mute
purple/white = reverse camera signal input

the other plug will have all the speaker wiring in it
white = left front +
white/black left front -
grey = right front +
grey/black right front -
green = left rear +
green/black left rear -
purple = right rear +
purple/black = right rear -

this is the same for all car stereos
