Signal Booster

Post by chewy »

I am in need of a signal booster, I have fitted a shark fin aerial and the reception is a little poor. Is this link below what I need or can someone point me in the right direction? I still have the original head unit

you have bad signal because of the sharkfin aerial.

vw radios aren't designed to work with them as they have a booster built in to the base of the aerial.

you only need that signal booster if your fitting an aftermarket radio, to be precise: its not actually a signal booster, the dealers just call it that, its actually a phantom power supply for the booster in the base of the aerial. i had to get one for fitting my sony HU, where as VW HU's send power directly to the booster.

so...

your best bet is getting rid of the sharkfin and replacing it with a better suited screw in aerial, maybe a bullet aerial?

hope this helps.

The booster works perfectly with the shark fin, and recently installed one in mine with a noticable improvement with the weaker signals
