Mk4 6n Cheap Handling Mod Alternative ! ARB Quality Find !!

Post by sc00byd00byd00 »

Hey All,

I've been looking into ways of making my 6N handle better and whilst looking online and through my ETKA DVD, I came across this little beauty.........

Why goto Venom and pay £215 for a 21mm Front ARB when you can goto VW and pay £46 for a 22mm standard one ;-) (I got this price from my local VW Dealer)

Only diffeence here is that this is the ARB off the Mk4 GTI (GTI I here you say........) I wondered what I was seeing when I saw GTI for the mk4 on the ETKA DVD

Taken from wikipedia;

Mk3 Polo GTI

After production of the G40 ended in 1994, Volkswagen decided to release the first GTI-branded Polo in a limited batch of just 3000. It was released in 1995 and available only in left hand drive. It featured a 1.6-litre 16-valve 120 PS (88 kW) engine and a host of extra features making it the highest spec car in its class. The GTI was not available in the UK at any stage during its limited production, this meant that as of 1994 the UK only had the 100bhp 1.4 16v as a model with any sporting intent. This was the case until 2000 when the Polo Mk3 model range was finally revamped and the first GTI-branded Polos arrived in the United Kingdom.

Like I said, the 22mm from VW is about £46, not in stock in the UK but available via special order

Part No; 6N0 411 309 F, you'll also need x2 of 6N0 411 315 D and x2 6X0 411 313 A (unless you want to polybush it)

MK4 GTI's have only been produced for the German market and are commonly imported into Holland all the time, unfortunately it's only the cheap wrecked ones who get imported, refurbed and sold, not my first choice :(

Why go and get a H&R in stead of the GTI one? Simple, the H&R one is designed for lowered cars, the GTI one is not :wink:
Going really low on coils or airride makes your standard arb hit the chassis, as will the GTI one do, it will even start to hit a tad sooner since it's a bit thicker then your 1.6 8v or 1.4 16v ones (diesels have a standard 18mm arb too). But since the H&R one is designed completely differently with the "knick" in it located more to the wishbones, it won't hit your chassis when your mk4 is lowered much :mrgreen:

I myself got a set of Eibach arb, a 23mm up front, also with the knick more towards the wishbone (lowest point with my airride and still it's not hitting the chassis :mrgreen: ) and a 20mm one on the rear-axle :mrgreen:
Believe me, that, combined with my poly-bushing all around, corners like no other :twisted:

So the 23mm Eibach one up front.... Are they still available to buy from Eibach and what make 20mm one do you have on the rear ?
