Insurance for a modifed turbo car?

Post by tegwin »

For those of you with the 1.8T conversion on the polo... who are you insured with and how much do they charge?

Toying with the idea of doing something similar, but if the insurance is going to be silly, there is no point!

a lot depends on postcode as they are banded, mine is classed as A+!! my car is parked on a secure driveway also with cctv and its in a secure car park at work!
if you are in a C band or so it really does make a huge difference

when i had my insurance for the gti before the conversion last year i was 21 with 2 yrs no claims and i was paying £490 with Directline

Hmmm... thats quite interesting...

What effect has it had on the road tax band? I think the 1.6 engine is about £175/year.... is the turbo more expensive?

Iv got a couple of technical questions.... you mind if I pm you with a few?
