Hi there, I am looking at upgrading both my front and rear brakes and had a few questions???
I have heard that Audi TT brakes bolt staight on, so I am looking at 312mm rotors for front and 256x20mm ventilated for the rear. I can get the rotors locally so that's sorted but I was wondering if anyone knew the part numbers for the front and rear calipers and carriers I will need? Apart from pads is that all I will need?
Thank you,
Anthony.

Re: GTI Brake caliper upgrade questions
Sorry i can't answer what you've asked. Thought i'd use your topic though to get some info too!!
I think come next service time i'll be ready for new discs and pads!!! Rears discs aint looking to healthy in my opinion!
Anyways, i know that you can get 312mm upgrade from ebay and that for the front but what about the rear??? Is it possible to put the standard fronts onto the backs to even up the break balance??? If not, what do i need to look into for the rears?
Thanks

Re: GTI Brake caliper upgrade questions
I haven't looked at our GTI's rear brakes yet, but if the rear stub axles are the old taper bearing style, then you'll need a conversion kit such as the ones on this page, converts 239mm to 280mm :-

If the rear axle is the later MK4 Golf cartridge bearing type, then MK4 Golf 256mm venteds will go straight on. With a little work you can probably get 280mm venteds on the rear.
Regarding the TT front brake upgrade, I really wouldn't bother. All you're doing is increasing unsprung weight for little gain in braking power. I got through 4 sets of Audi 312mm discs on my Corrado over 2 years because they warp too easily. I do drive hard though.
My advice, for what it's worth - save your pennies and get a proper 4 pot kit with 28 x 330mm discs
Especially AP Racing. You'll command big respect everywhere you go with those 8 legendary letters visible through your wheels
