Front bumper grill idea

Post by poloboyben »

Saw this on ebay and think it looks really good, especially a silver grille on a silver car:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... gory=64928

What do you think? I can get some of that silver grille, but how hard would fitting be? What exactly would the fitting consist of? I can see how the current black plastic grills would come off easilt, but fitting the new grill looks like it could be tricky.???

Cheers

my mate meshed his front bumper himself. if u dont want much hassle, just buy a bit of mesh(from halfords) and using a set of pliers, cut to shape and bondage glue/fit over the black grills. u dont even have to use a screwdriver or take the bumper off!! :D :D it looks very neat!

Or u can take the bumper off and take the grills out and mesh it from the back. takes more time and hassle tho.

Hope this helps
Cheers
Aaron

I like it, but it would depend on which colour your car was. Don't think it would look that good on a silver or jazz blue car, but would be cool on red or dark metallics.

does yours have the mesh front grilles as standard?

i think the best setup is the gti grille and the matching front mesh sections

Nah, at the minute ive got a silver grill surrounding the VW badge at the front. How much and where could i get a black grill (like the gti one) for trhe front, just surrounding vw badge? How much are the official ones for vw?

i have my front grill colourcoded and on silver cars i recon the more silver the better. the only other thing i have thought about is spraying my lower grills around foglights etc and the gti mesh grill up top silver so that all the grills matched as silver.

see this url for the gti grille cost

i know that out Tdi has mesh lower sections, but the grille is colour coded. if i was to change it i'd just fit the gti grille so that it matched the lower sections.(all honeycomb mesh)

I just swapped all my lower grilles to GTI honeycomb. Cos I got foglights and honeycomb grilles for them and then the middle didn't match cos it was standard, so I just swapped that. It looks really good, much better than original in my opinion and a nice subtle mod. Now I want a GTI front splitter.

i think it all comes down to personal tastes.
some like lots of aftermarket mesh. some like OE

Yeah, thats very true - as you can guess I go for the OE approach, but don't get me wrong, I think that aftermarket can look wicked.
