1.8T conversion

Post by captainbeyond88 »

hey guys i'm sure this has been asked before but after my front end has been fixed i'm going to start buying parts for my 1.8T.
I'm planning on doing this conversion myself (i know its a ton of work, but i'm up for it, theres no chance i'll have the money for a tuning company to do it anytime soon, also it'll be more fun). I've pm'd ceedubya already but not heard from him just yet but was wondering if anyone else has some info.
Basically i'm looking for some info on parts I'll need so i can start collecting the bits together.
also i've got a few questions. if someone could list the parts i'll need i'll be really greatful.
Questions:
1. do i need to fabricate my own mounts or is there a car i can get a set off that'll fit (its goin into a 9n btw)?
2. which engine block code should i look for? (i.e. should i go for an engine such as the BAM out of a TT or a BJX from an ibiza/polo gti, or something else)
3. should i go for a k04 or just get a k03 or k03s?
4. what ECU do you guys reccomend?
5. which gearbox and clutch should i use?
6. what wireing loom should i use
7.where should i fit the battery
8. wheres the best place to get parts?

right heres the parts i know i'll need so far:

intake manifold and throttle body
exaust manifold and turbo
altenator and bracket
lamda sensor and mounting bracket
exaust down pipe
water pump
boost control valve
ignition coils
fuel rail and fuel pressure regulator and injectors
radiator hoses
heater hoses
air and coolant sensors
wireing harness
crank sensor
mounts
air filter
intercooler
charge pipes
radiator
altenator belt
ECU
Uprated brakes
Weitec coilies
powerflow exaust

any tips and advice i'd be really greatful
