What's entailed for future reference mate? Hub off and slide off the driveshaft?

Lower arm disconnected, driveshaft unbolt from hub, driveshaft unbolted from gearbox, driveshaft removed out of the hub, then remove clips, clean out all old grease so inside surfaces are clean, inspect for wear, if ok fit new boot, fill with grease half in CV joint and half in gaitor, fit clips and tighten both sides, then refit
Its an absolutely horrible job took almost 4 hours as the driveshaft nut had seized, and had been threaded by some previous plank.

Re: The GTI! - Alex's Progress Thread NEW PAINT PG54!!!
Well whats new ummm....
I have a leaking headlight washer which I am beginning to fix today
A massive stone hit the bonnet last week and has taken a gigantic chunk of paint out which im in the process of repairing
My headunit died and had to go in for repair
I have acquired a rattle in my passenger door panel, which I think is the lock mechanism
I cant think of anything else that has changed recently lol
The modifications have kind of come to an end...ive spent almost, well probably over, £4k on changing parts, repairing parts, fixing this, modifying that, and after that you kinda run out of inspiration, or ideas on what (if anything is left!) to change next.
Im gonna get the black mk3 back on the road soon hopefully with a new fast engine in it, but time allowing of course, as I havent got much atm!

i've got a crater in my bonnet n all mate, sucks. having to wait ages before i get mine fixed though, as i want the bumpers re-done too so need money for it all!
it's pretty much a finished product in my eyes, tis spot on. only things left are larger and or non OEM mods. as said before however i lower stance wouldn't go a miss

Definito
cheers timo! Lower stance would be nice, but it wouldnt be practical. I scraped my exhaust getting out the wife grandparents' drive yesterday, so any lower, and there wouldnt be an exhaust left!
I think the last thing Ill change is to just get the wheels refurbished, as they are a little scraped in places, but that wont happen till ive worn these tyres to the ground.

Re: The GTI! - Alex's Progress Thread
Well the headunit it back from repair, and is working a treat now
Ill get some photos up later on
The car has to go in for its bonnet to be resprayed this week as that stone chip was too deep to be repaired with touch up paint....more money spent!! To be fair, it is perhaps a good thing as the bonnet was so chipped from stones and such in the last year - its just the cost of the work these days is so high for a good quality finish!
In other news, I replaced the washer bottle and seals, which im happy to say its no longer leaking which has taken me months to sort out!
Oh well...ill do a little shoot of it once the bonnet has been sorted out
