new abs pump needed or not? polo 9n3

Post by nomi_7860 »

i had my car serviced last week by a garage and they said the abs pump is bent/gone, and it will need replacing. there is no light on or anyting to state the pump has gone. the steering feels fine and braking seems ok. is there any way of find out if the garage is just trying to make extra money or there is a fault? any help would be great. cheers :D

Exactly how can it be bent. I would go back to this "garage" and get them to show you the bent ABS unit and two the fault code the computer system came up with. I would then go to a vw garage and ask for their opion Abs pump bent my bottom. It will either work or it won't and if it doesn't then 1million times out of 1millionand 1 it will show the light onthe dash.

That will explain why the pump is bent as to why the light isnt showing ??? best put on the computer as said earlier for the fault code. best replacing the pump asap.

I'm not trying to be insulting, but, are you sure that it is the ABS pump that is said to be bent and not the power steering pump? The steering pump is mounted at the N/S front and a bit vunerable to front end damage, the ABS assembly including pump, is mounted a lot further back and is well protected from damage - unless the engine was pushed well back - but that might cause a "write-off" situation!
