coilovers - will these fit?

Post by Joe_Mk5 »

alright guys,
ive sourced a set of raceland coilovers that a guy is selling for £150
i would just like a bit of reasurance that they will fit a 6n2
he ordered them for his car which is a 6n2 and recieved the set. The box says on it for a polo 6n/6k/6n2

Image

there's a photo he took and said the others are like that

if im correct in thinknig the raceland coilovers are very similar to the hottuning jobbies and ta technix that are being sold

thanks guys, joe

cheers buddy,
the only thing thats getting me a little confused is that some people have said they will fit and others say that they shall not
also, coilovers for a polo 6n from a brand say ta technix cost £169 delivered however for the 6n2 there asking £245 there must be some difference between the two otherwise they would surly be the same price no matter if they are for a 6n2 or 6n?

They look like the 6n2 kit, and if the guy ordered them as a 6n2 and it says that on the box, I would assume it would be a safe bet.

What makes you hesitate into thinking they'd be for a 6N? Has the guy given you a reason as to why he's selling?

from what i understand, he has bought them for his car but never got around to fitting them. and is now swapping his car leading to the sell =]

the only thing thats making me hesitate really, is that im worried into buying them and not being right for the car and being down however much i pay =[
and the reason that i feel it could be for a 6n is that he says that it will fit a 6n/6n2 where as ive been advised in the past that they would not fit but im beginning to believe that i was given a bit of false information there
i have heard of people on this forum putting 6n2 coilovers on a 6n and just changing over the top mounts so it does suggest they would fit
but it leads me to another question on why would companies charge £169 for a 6n and £245 for a 6n2 if the cheaper coils would fit both?

very confusing subject :P

Yeh I was just about to mention that 6n2 coilovers can fit onto 6ns with the top mounts altered.

In regards to the price, I just think HotTuning got a fair amount of response from selling there 6n2 coilovers so cheap, so they've bumped the price.

sneaky people arnt they tim :P
i would assume then that if 6n2 coilovers would fit on the 6n then it would work vice versa.
thanks for the reassurance with this tim i appreciate it, looks like ill make him a offer tomoro =]

in reguards to top mounts, i hear there simple to change over? and come part of the stock suspension?
so besides the coilovers theres nothing else that needs to be bought to fit these?

this is all new to me so its nice to learn as i go :)

I'm in no way confirming these will definitely fit! Just stating the facts.

Yep top mounts are easy enough, just take them off your olds and put them on yours new ones. I used spring compressors for safety when removing mine, not sure how essential they are though.
