Grateful for any advice. Ive had a skoda fabia 1400 16v for the past 4 years (its 8 years old now)> Not had a lot of probs with it but now engine is getting a bit lumpy despite servicing and well, I felt time for a change. Went to look at the new Fabia but I really dont like the shape like my old one.
Ive today seen a Polo Match 1.4 TDI at the local main dealer. Only 6 months old and 1k on clock (demonstrator). It seems a good price (£9k) and they are offering £1250 for my 8 year old fabia.
Can someone advise on the Polo as Ive never had one before. I used to drive the old VW Golfs which were about the same size (the new Golfs look huge). I only do about 8k a year - the car has the rest of the warranty and I was interested that the tax will only be £35 a year.
Is this a good car for me anyone please? Or should I carry on looking?

sounds good, if it ticks all the boxes for you then get it, i dont personally have a tdi but heard good things about those 1.4 ones and as a car the polo is great pritty much the same as the fabia you have chassis wise! any pics of the new one??
Re: Confused Newbie here
hI thanks
Im dithering because some of the reviews havent been great. Im off now to test it on a fast road to see how noisy it is. Will report back
Re: Confused Newbie here
the 1.4 tdi is a nice car its not too fast and a bit noisy but its fast enuff. ive got the 1.9tdi it sounds nicer then the 1.4 cos the 1.4 is a 3 cylinder. if u want a car for speed then the 1.9 is better but otherwise the 1.4tdi is a very nice car
.. my brother has the 1.4 tdi its a nice car go for it
