selling on ebay
just after some opinione, i'm thinking about listing my GTi on ebay, i'm gunna set the reserve at the price i've been offered by garages so it could be a bit of a bargain for someone. my question is . . . should i state in the ad what my reserve is to get people a little more interested or . . . ?!
Re: selling on ebay
I never understood reserve auctions. If that is going to be the MINIMUM price you will accept for the car, then why not start your eBay at that price (or a little higher)...even consider a BIN auction with 'offers'. At the end of the day, I am sure you want to sell it and know what is the MINIMUM you will want, so why not start from there?

Re: selling on ebay
I agree, i've never really seen much point in a reserve! However, this is what eBay says......
Why have a reserve price? Many sellers have found that too high a starting price discourages interest in their item, while an attractively low starting price makes them vulnerable to selling at an unsatisfactorily low price. A reserve price helps with this.
From experience, I find that if you have a reserve price on there, then people often contact you asking what it is set at.
Maybe you could see how that goes and if you're not getting much interest, then add it onto the listing later?

I would list it as a fixed price auction of £750-£1000 more than what you've been offered by garages... and explain the whole trade in price etc.. etc.. really sell the car on the ad.. you will be contacted anyway with people wanting to make offers ... so leave yourself some room for negotiation
Dont know what you've been offered but I reckon a good price to set is £8-9k ... you need to be cheaper than VW and other retailers like this one...

Sure its newer but you get the idea ... someone can just walk in here without any deposit and get finance easily...
But DEFO do put ab ad on Ebay ... it is a huge market place.

Re: selling on ebay
VW Dealers list 06's at £9.5K at the moment (and there is a few of them about)... so I gues they would sell at less than £9k .... so you get an approved use car with warranty....
So maybe you should be selling at £8k private... If I could be bothered to sell mine instead of PX then that is the price I would do.
But I cant be bothered with the hassle of muppets coming round to waste my time... lol ... so I'm sticking with the £7K PX value .. paid £10K two years ago almost ... so its not a bad loss...
