Coolant Liquid for 6N2 1.4!!

Post by chunkychimpanzee »

Hi everyone,

I have a 1.4 6N2. I think the previous owner has poured some water into the coolant container, and is that a problem for it?? This is because I am planning to have some proper coolant liquid to be poured into it! Do you think it is ok for me to mix with the water at all?

Thanks
Samuel

im not sure if you could mix the new coolant with it, but when i had my coolant topped up the garage just added a dash of water so id assume water with coolant is fine!

dont mix it with old coolant, best to use new stuff, but yes, you can use it with water, is your actually supposed to dilute it down anyway, not many people do, it doesnt make a big difference.

It's ok to add water or/and coolant, but you shold NOT mix different types of coolant!! If you have red/pink coolant, add red/pink coolant, if you have blue, add blue. The red one is G12, what VW puts in originally. I think it's 40% G12 and 60% water. it si preferable to use distilled water

Yeh it's more water than G12 that you use, so of course water is fine to add.
