just failed MOT cost me 260. just done 100k mark aswell
passed emissions but..for past few days i've had serious problems with the engine,
first time i turn ignition on its fine starts well and stays at 1k revs, then if i ever rev or stop, ANY time i have my foot on the clutch the whole engine cuts out
seriously need help, internet sites don't help neither does the haynes manual
so any ideas ?

You have the illusive 'irratic revs' issue lol. Search the term and go from there.
it could simply be your throttle body needs carb cleaner, alignment, temp sender or distributor. There are other culprits but these are the most common ones, which are the cheapest luckily! if you have a VAGCOM at hand then use that to hopeflly find the problem.
