servo vacuum pipe replacement

Hi
The servo vacuum pipe cracked on my car around the check valve (causing an eratic idle, stalling and poor brake effort for those of you who're curious).

The replacment is push fit but it was a pain to get in because of the rubber seal still in the servo. The brakes are ok but it still occasionally has an idle hiccup and the pedal feels slightly heavier than before so i dont think its sealed 100%.

I was planning on pulling the rubber bung out the servo and pushing them both in together but as i do not really understaning what's on the inside of the servo i wanted to double check if anyone thinks its unwise. Is the bung glued in?

Failing that i was going to run a bead of silicon sealant around the hose tail when i refit it.

From past experience of servo pipes etc, I'd reckon that you have taken the correct approach, the servo face seal will probably have a lip at both ends so leaving it in and just replacing the pipe should have been okay - maybe you should have lubricated the hose end very lightly with something.

Just updating this. I pulled the pipe out again and sprayed some of that lubricant you use for window runners that doesnt degrade rubber. The hosetail went back in easier but still took a few days to seat, so the idle wandered every once in a while but brakes were always fine. Probably just needed some time to sucks itself into position.
