plz help with the wheels

Post by monk »

i'm thinking of buying a set of ASA AR 1 (BBS licensed) 17''x8J. does anyone know what tires i should use ? does 205/40/17 fit ? won't they be too stretched ?

from what i've heard the best offset for 8J is 35.
i would have got them 7.5 but unfortunately they are only made 17x7 or 17x8. no 7.5 :(
i don't wanna make any changes to the wheel arch.

these are the rims:

what do ya think ?

I have 205/40 on 17x8 and have no problems; the tyre is slightly stretched

look here(wheels-tyres combinations):

Jeff, why not ? with the right lowering i think they will look ok. i think im gonna try 8J on the back and 7 on the front wheels... although being FWD i think 8J will do :D

You wont have any problems with 17x8 all round....ive had two sets on mine in the past year. Im going for 8.5 or 9j rears very very soon! :D

205/40 is also the perfect size...a tiny bit of stretch but nothing stupid and still looks good.

i will try to get even lower but i don't know what to do with the front wheels, because from what i've heard with 8J ill have to do some archwork.

anyone tried 8J with colies ? maybe this will work. i'm only thinking about 2-2.5 cm maximum because i use the car on a daily basis and i don't want any trouble with the wheels.

after dropping the nose on my dub again, by bbs's are rubbing ever so slightly on the plastic arch liners, so im changing to identical tyres but 195x40 up front and keep the 205x40 at the rear
