Pedal box recall help please?

Ive diagnosed my car with the failure of the pedal box, has snapped at the weak welding point. Ive rang around a few dealers who checked their sytems saying there is no recalls on my car, then one sed there was a recall, but only upto 6 years old. Ive heard others have had it done as a good will gesture, has anyone had this? and where from? do i have a chance of getting it done free of charge lol?

You could well be out of the goodwill period now anyhow - is your car over 60k miles?

Also, the recall is officially only for the GTI models (the other models werent part of this, but certain nicer dealers would do it under goodwill)

yea people on clubpolo said it was gonna cost me like 250 quid.... but see if you know any one who can weld then all you need to do is pull it out

dunno if u know but getting the pedal box out isnt all that simple. u gotta some trim of from under the steering coloum and the steering column has to come out as it goes through the pedal box.

yeh i am now getting this done for £150 through a friend who used to work for VW, so its not to bad in the end
