no more real problems

Post by l0rne »

ive just coe back from my holiday and back to a hefty bill, i had my MOT which failed but now everything fixed ( brakes and wishbones) which cost me 260 altogether, then my car wasnt well and kept cutting out, i found out my throttle body was f**ked, so a new one plus laour set me back 330 quid!

now my car is running fine, purrs like mad now! but i want an induction kit, one problem is i dont want a universal one and i dont trust many sites when they have different sizes and things, what size should i get like cone or whatever?

hopefully soon i get my boot sprayed as for 2 months the tailgate looks asif its got lots of tipex on it, ill upload before and after pictures when i get it done :)

so any help on the induction kit/ air filter w.e would be much appreciated (Y)

BMC's are the best on the market but also very expensive just for a slight difference if any!

K&N and Pipercross are both ok although I prefer the K&N. Both of these would need an extra feed for cold air as they sit directly on the TB, they don't have a guard against the engines hot air going in.

Yeah the K&N give a good sound, this is prob wot you will have to do. Only thing im not to keen on is how it looks, but who see's the engine when your driving?

^^ Best to get a heatshield in between the engine and the filter. Even with the cold air feed you have too much hot air going directy into the filter.

Yeah defently. I just got my 4 branch manifold fitted and the amount of heat that gives out is insane! Induction roar has slightly decreased to.

^^ Places like Halfords, Carnoisseur etc do them.

You could also wrap the manifold to reduce the heat coming off of it. You would lose the bling factor though

I wouldn't just get a heat shield for that. I'd get a 90 degree pipe and further piping that runs from the the TB to the air filter also, that way it's not mounted vertically and further away from the hot engine.

What tim said is a good idea but dont forget about the crankcase breather. You will need to either run a separate pipe for that or get a filter to fit on. Can get pipercross ones for around £20. I personally say to keep the induction filter as close as you can to the Throttle body, or just get a BMC CDA one.
