lock please help

Hey guys, dont know if this is the right bit to post on but my girlfriends polo 01 model, the drvers side door lock has stopped working. The car is locked so i put the key in and everything opens, i can open the door and then both drivers and passager side window open wierd!! i then close the door but cant lock it. Can anyone help, had the same problem, is it electircal or has the driver side lock gone because the key turns quite freely in there when u try to lock it. thanks
