sound coming from gearbox on my GTI

I bought a GTI a few months ago, the guy told me it had a new gear box rebuilt on 10/2007 I have the invoice for a price of £1056.00 the milage is fairly low for it's age 58k

anyway, this sound is like scrapping metal, the gears all work fine but there is a horrible sound

does anyone know what this might be and if it's serious or not...i really don't have a spare 1k to throw at getting a new gear box,

please help

I'd definitely take it seriously. Get it checked out by a gearbox specialist asap. Also, that's an awful expensive charge. I thought I was paying top dollar at £700 for mine.
