pedal box possibly on the way out on 6n2.....

Post by dave-g »

ok guys bit of a tricky one here, the mrs has just got hold of a 1.4 6n2 polo, which has a horrendous noise when the clutch is depressed/released! i had a look up n the footwell, and played around with the clutch pedal while having a nosey about, and all i could see or figure to be the problem, is a very small (inch or so) crack, or what looks to be a crack? could this be a pedal box on the way out?

also when the pedal is depressed, it appears to be ever so slightly pulling said piece of metal behind the pedal forward an inch or so........ that aint right is it???

any info would be much appreciated!!!! :D

just moved this to the correct section.

yes it does indeed sound like your Pedal Box is in trouble. I wouldn't drive it at all until it's fixed!

When the Gti had the pedal box recall, what VW did was reinforce that weak point with a better weld. I suggest you do the same (if it's not beyond repair)! Either remove it and get someone to weld it for you (cheaper option) or take it to a garage and get them to sort it out (not so cheap)
