knackerd rear coilover...... where to get new??!!

Post by dave-g »

bit of a sob story.......
basically i bought a set of these ta technix coilies a while back, but one of the back ones has given up on me. i took it off just now, and when its put back on, the bolt which goes through to the boot is tightened, and the car is lowered the strut is not staying where it is. so basically its pushing the mount up into the air, (the bar bit through the centre of the springs) so effectively theres no dampening on that side?

just wondering is there any way i can repair them? i.e- undo the bit with the two pins and take them apart, or can i just buy a rear shock seperately?

gunna have to keep driving it, just v.v carefully tis all :(

oh or anybody got a pair of rear coilies they don't want.......? lol

DON'T DRIVE THE CAR LIKE THIS, that's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard haha. You have no control over the back of your car, trust me it happened to a mates, Don't Drive It.

Unfortunately it won't be fixable, the top of the cylinder will have popped and leak all the fluid/air.

If you bought these from the right place, they'll have a 2 year warranty, in which this will be covered. Contact your supplyer for another sent out. I've done this with mine (turned out I didnt need another after all) so have a spare, but I've got to keep it for reasons like this 8)

well it'd been gone for about 2weeks from what i'd noticed and was only a little twitchy.....all adds to the fun.......

stripped it down and all it turned out to be was one of the spring cups on top of the spring had worn itself and slid down the entire shaft, not giving any resistance. all sorted now though!! :D
