What's a good mobile to get?

Post by Scorpio1 »

I'm looking to change my Nokia 7250i (worst camera EVER) and been looking at some good 2nd hand Samsung E700's, Nokia 6600, and just found out about a Sharp GX-30 that has a built in flash and 1 million mega pixels.

However the Sharp doesn't allow the pics to be sent via infa-red or data cable, and that's poor IMO. You to email them.

I used to think having a camera on a phone was pointless, but there are times I want a pic of something and I don't carry the proper camera about!

I'm not bothered about radio on it though until they bring out a mobile with DAB, now that will be mental!

I have a Nokia 3650 and I like it. Good performer, good sound quality, and very sensitive in weak signal areas. The camera's the best I've seen in a mobile (until these latest-generation phones came along). Top resolution is 640 x 480 (less than 1 megapixel).

My pic in the 'Members' mugshots' thread was taken using it - the quality is good, though not as good as to overcome the subject's ugliness.

The quailty of that is good.

I wonder if the 6600 with bluetooth can run tomtom2 with a bigger SD card?

Can't beat a second hand 3310/3330, dude....

(well I suppose it depends what you want it for, but its about the best available with text+tones+WAP, despite no colour, no poly, no camera..)
(motorola 3388 even better, you can put AA batteries in it, but it's a literal brick.. no tones or wap either :D)

Friend at work has a Nokia 6600, it's kinda big but i'd have one (currently have e700) think the Nokia is better because you can change memory cards to give it more memory etc!! :)

Hmmm... Second-hand 3310/3330 or the new Nokia 1100 if you need a basic phone (as most people do).

Nokia 3650/6600 if you don't mind the size (they're light but relatively large). Their cameras rule.

Mikeyw is right, the 6230 looks great. Bit on the expensive side at the moment but if you don't like it you can always sell it on and make a profit on eBay (for a limited time only, soo everybody in Hong Kong and Singapore will be selling one!).

It all depends on whether you want to keep your existing account or sign up with another provider really. These recommendations are for a new mobile w/ an existing account/SIMcard.

Cheers,

Carlos

PS. I know I've only mentioned Nokias but they're still the best IMO. Even my mother can handle one.

I had the Sony T610 and was thinking of upgrading to T630 but found it a bit girly looking. It's quite good int he UK as my Vod gave me a free Nokia 6230 and 3 months line rental paid for to stop me from going to O2 :D

I will second that, you only have to look at the pics of my car in the members ride section to see how blurry they are.

How about a Nokia 6600? bigger than what you are used to, but has video playback, bluetooth and infra red to name but a few. Hefty priced handset only, so contract works out best.

Motorola MPx... runs MS mobile windows (so can run apps, including mediaplayer for clips, mp3s etc etc). Tri-band, Wifi, Bluetooth and IR support. 1.3 mp camera with flash. 64MB internal memory (can be increased via SD card slot, upto 1GB, maybe more). Might be a bit big for some but if you're after a phone, PDA/computer and digicam all-in-one then this is pretty small 8).
