I'm in the process of spraying my front badge black (original I know!) and have seperated the 2 parts of the badge.
Just wondering when people are doing this, are they tending to spray both parts or just the "chrome" front bit?
Thanks

Re: Black VW front badge
Well it is true, u do need different primer for the inside plastic part and u need to use plastic cleaner to open up the pores of the plastic as to get best adhesion of the front badge, What i ment by different colour wasnt about fading, i was reffering to having it blue or yellow!
Not having reactions or anything!
Im a qualified trained painter/sprayer/Rolls royce and Bentley restorer by trade so if you need any advice on spraying parts come to me, im ur man!
Idearly u need an apoxy primer for the chrome front badge for the proper way to do it, Or remove the chrome film and use plastic primer and cleaner!

Re: Black VW front badge
One coat of primer will be anough aslong as you cover what u want to cover, if u use the wrong primer and use plenty of primer stated u will get crazing and then ul have to remove the primer and well buy the correct stuff!

Re: Black VW front badge
how are you guys getting the badges off and re-applying them? is it just a case of heat gunning the mastic to get it off an use a glue gun or something to stick it back on?

Sorry for a belated response, but for the rea one use foma tape (B&Q), and for the front it's just clips.jacko_b_23 wrote:how are you guys getting the badges off and re-applying them? is it just a case of heat gunning the mastic to get it off an use a glue gun or something to stick it back on?
