Snapped petrol flap

Ok so last night i went to fill up with petrol so i pressed the flap so it popped open and then pulled it fully open and it came off in my hand!

It has snapped at the bracket bit. For now i have tried to stick it back together with no nails and have managed to get it to stay closed by putting masking tape over the top of it.

I dunno what I will need to fix it is it just a new flap? Also does anyone know how to take it off/replace it? As I don't really have the money to get the stealers to fix it at the moment.

as far as i remember, its just a screw holding the flap in

so get a new flap, paint and screw it back on!

i had this happen to me on my gti

and you haver to get the flap part from the stealers and they do the paint and laquer to sort it but for both flap and paint costed about 50 notes but easy swap though

ok i managed to get another one from the stealers but as it comes complete (with the rubber backing and plastic bit where the flap is hinged to) i was wondering if there is anyway to take the flap off so i can paint it? as it is only primered

nope unfortunately you cant just get the cap to come off without breaking the new one

a lot of masking tape lol that was my solution
