lowering a standard 1.4?
lowering a standard 1.4?
hi, looking for some lowering springs and have seen sets that come with a set of 60mm drop springs for the front and 40mm drops for the back, would that work ok on standard shocks or would you need new shocks for the front?

Anything over 40mm is a push on standard shocks, as it compresses them too far. If your looking for that kind of drop, its safer and more cost effective in the long run to get a set of springs and shocks together that are designed for that level of drop.

Re: lowering a standard 1.4?
for that kind of drop you would need shortened shocks such as the Bilstein B8's. Basically with OE length shocks (even if they are uprated) when you lower the car it reduces the damping on the shocks as it is already compressed. You will be more likely to hit the bump-stops and also do damage to the damper.
Not all uprated dampers are shortened in length so make sure you go for ones that are designed for the lowering..
