VW ipod adapter cable problem

Just wondering if anybody with a VW ipod adapter cable fitted has had any problems with it.

Mine seems to have stopped working this afternoon. Display on the stereo just reads no CD as if it doesnt recognise that the ipod is connected, ipod works fine when not connected and is still getting charged when connected to the adapter cable.

Have looked on the net and seems to be a common problem but no fixing suggestions. Can anyone help?

It could be a grounding problem - might be worth popping the head unit out, and checking all the connections are nice and tight mate

Thanks for the reply will have a check tomorrow. Had a reply on another forum from a VW tech who said the control unit supplied with the cable is prone to packing in, but he couldnt tell me if VW are replacing these under parts warranty. Have you heard anything Alex?

Ill have a quick check to see if I can find any campaigns relating to the ipod adapter

I would have thought they will anyhow mate if you complain enough!

Update on this just incase somebody else has the same problem as I did.

Took the ipod fitting kit back to my local VW dealer where I got it, parts guy said he hadnt heard anything about them being a problem but was good enough to swap the small controller box over for a new one out of a brand new kit so I could go home and try it out.

Fitted the new controller box into the wiring kit and hey presto jobs a good un. So as advised by a VW tech on another forum the controller boxes are prone to pack in. Phoned the parts guy to say it was working and he said cool just keep it, woohoo.
