Engine management light on the dashboard

Post by farhakam »

Hi,, I bought a vw polo 2001 reg about two months ago,
It drives well but the engine managment light stays on the dashboard and will not turn off,, so I've got it diagnosed for £35 and these are the codes appeared:
code 1: 16804 (catalyst system, Bank efficiency below Threshold)
code 2: 16490 (Manifold Absolute pressure or Bar FreesRange/performance)
code 3: 16519 (O2 sensor heater circuit, Bank sensor1, electrical Fault)

I've repaired fault code 1 for £20, and the light dissapeared from the dashboard but two weeks later it came up again. The mechanic told me if the light comes up again,, he's gona have to deal with the other faults that appeared (code 2/code 3)

What I'm worried is the money that he's going to charge me cos he told me it's going to be very expensive.
For code 2, im looking around £70
for code 3: £150 or higher

Is it a reasonable price or is he charging me too much. (btw He doesnt give any recipts)
Shall I get it repaired or shall i just wait and see if the light dissapears or not.

many thanks

I'd have thought the O2 one was either the sensor or a new CAT - what has he said he'll do for the money?
