Hi to all

Post by HytestA »

First off being new here i think i should say "Hi to all"

secondly I have a question or two for any G40 experts out there. I'd like to know if anyone knows how many G40's are left running on the UK roads and even harder to answer could anyone say when the first few G40's arrived.

I ask the one about when they arrived as mine is registered on an 'H' plate and I've never seen any with a plate before a 'J'

any answers would be very appreciated

I'm no expert, but I think the G's came to the UK '91 on a H. As for the other question, about 500 came over here, but you couldn't really say how many are left.

Early 1991 was the release date for the mk3 G40, so just caught the tailend of the 'H' registration.

500 RHD examples imported by VW, most were written off by Journo's who couldn't drive in the first year or so.

Last figure I got quote was 268 original G40s left on UK roads, that are still registered. A few more last year and early this year were written off, but the engine's live on in other prople's cars.
