Removing steering wheel.

Post by Brad. »

How do I do it!?

Had a go today, tried to see whats in the holes behind the steering wheel, holding the airbag on, but i can't see, thus can't put anything in there to undo.
Searched, only found the guide on how to put a mk5 steering wheel on a mk4. I need to know how the get the mk5 one off.

Thanks alot.

I would imagine it would be the same method as getting the mark 4 one off near enough? Make sure you disconnect the battery first though.

Yeah battery was off, left it to drain etc.
Managed to get my head wedged in so I could see down the holes. There doesn't seem to be any Hex/star bolts or anything down there, not that i could see anyway. Theres some metal, but nothing to "undo"?

mate they are like little clips you have to pull up towards the outside of the wheel if that make sense, maybe someone else can explain better?

large strong flat head screwdriver will do it :) be careful though as the foam around the holes is fragile :P
