Re: WANTED Pictures oF GTI's lowered on standard wheels
Thanks for the pictures everyone.Im looking at buying some suspension for my GTI.Unfortunately i think ill be following the trend and getting a set of coilovers, now i dont think im going to need adjustable dampening as i'll never use it and am only looking at lowering the car about 45mm or there abouts.Ive noticed some of you are using the 16" RX2 alloys are they a different ET to the 15"?.
What your thoughts on the suspension idea?

I think coilovers are pointless for a 45mm drop - id recommend getting a set of what Im running as its super comfy and it corners superbly! The ET is the same from what I remember.
Re: WANTED Pictures oF GTI's lowered on standard wheels
I did think about it being alittle pointless but i want to have the adjustability if ever i change my mind.I have been looking at the Weitec GTN kit which is a mixture of the two.Whats the full name of the setup you're running alex?.

That does seem like a really nice kit thanks for the link, ill keep them in mind for sure.Ive been looking at this setup too to give me some sort of adjustament without needing a full coilover setup http://www.venommotorsport.com/manufact ... o%20Mk%205 ..What do you think?.Again simular to the normal uprated spring/shock setups available but with alittle adjustment too.

GT Hicons are meant to be really good. I'd pick them over expensive shocks and springs any day!

Re: WANTED Pictures oF GTI's lowered on standard wheels
Depends how low you want to go really, the Polo GTI looks awesome when its down 70 to 80mm and your only going to achieve that with coilovers.
AP & Weitec are really good for the price and are really poplular on here.
I am always changing the damping setting on my coilovers because you certainly do feel the difference on different road surfaces and it literally takes 2 minutes. The reason mine isnt lowered more is because my driveway needs levelling.
If you get springs & shocks you'll probably be after Coilovers 12 months down the line

Re: WANTED Pictures oF GTI's lowered on standard wheels
But you gotta remember that it highly depends on your Rim size. If its a 16, you havent got as much of a drop available to you as the arches wont handle it.

Yeh there's always ways round the extra diameter! But generally yeh you lose arch space with larger wheels.
