Creaking Rear Suspension

Post by alanred »

I've done a quick search and i'm thinking it's the Rear Top Mounts.
It makes the same noise as when the front ARB Bushes failed, creaking with every little movement.

Has anyone had these replaced and how much will it cost ?

Thank you.

Is it not the rear top mounts it is more likely to be the bushes on the rear cross member that have failed. The struts at the rear are screwed into alloy at the top not rubber bushes. The struts have lower bushes and these may be worn also best to just get new struts as easy to replace.

I sprayed the front topmounts with Silicone PTFE grease, it stopped the noise for 10 mins, then it came back.
Does that mean the top mounts are the problem. The creaking sound has definatley got louder over the last few weeks.

Before i throw it in the garage does anyone know what i should expect to pay ?

Thank you.

1.5 hours labour and hardly anything for the parts I'd have thought. £100?

Thanks for the reply.
I had someone sat in the passenger seat today who said it feels and sounds like the noise is right under his feet ?
He suggested the gearbox mounts ? I wouldn't be suprised with this car, a bit more to add to the list.

looks like i'll have to book it in.

Thanks .
