where can i get tyres?

Post by Larn »

i just got my MOT test results back, failed :( the guy reckons the 2 front tyres both have rips on the inner sides and need replacing

i asked him if i can provide the tyres, he agreed

I know for a fact i would get over priced for the tyres as you would at any garage, so i would like to find out where i can get them from

the car is a Polo GTI W 2000 model it has the standard wheels on it

if you don't know where i can get them, can you tell me the wheel size?

thanks

Black circles sell them online.... Yoko S drive is good!!!

You should be able to take the car to any tyre place for them to fit some tyres from their stock.....

I too run the standard alloys on mine.I replaced mine with what was on there the Michelin Pilot Exalto tyres.Size 15", 195mm width and 45mm depth, they are wicked tyres the wear rate is extremely good, low road noise and superb grip in both wet and dry.I got them from black circles as they were cheapest i found.Really good service i would strongly recommend them fast delivery too.

15/195/45 is what you'll need for standards on the GTi. Toyo Proxies T1-Rs are great for the price. Ask the garage if they'll charge extra for fitting the tyres (which they most probably well will) and ask them for their prices on doing it, then just surf around other places for a cheaper price.

You've got 10 days to get it all sorted, and your perfectly within your own right to do the work yourself or get it done elsewhere.

Id go for yokohama S-Drives there good all around i found,

Bearing in mind you will need them balanced/weighted again so you'l get charged for that, wont be much i reckon 115 all around with tyres.

I bought Toyo T1-R's from Camskill a couple of months ago for £45 each, then just went to my local tire centre and got them fitted for £20, so worked out about £50 a corner for great tires :D
