Do i have to lower my car?

Post by Black Polo »

Hi this is my first post. Im looking to get some 16" alloys for my car but im not sure if im going to have to lower them as a result. im not realy keen on the idea of lowering and would rather not but does the size of the alloys matter? thanks

you always have to lower your polo :d.

16's shouldnt make too much difference as long as there on low pros. if you dont want to lower it that much i would recomend dropping it 40mm, doesn't make much difference to the ride quality, but visual will improve the look.

i'm sure people can post some pic's if that would help, there are most combinations of low-ness and wheel sizes on the site

I have 16 inch BBS RXII's on my polo, and before I had my polo lowered, it was riding quite high, almost 4x4-esque.

However, at the end of the day, the decision is up to you. Lowering your car can cause a few problems, such as scrubbing, the wheels fouling the arches, and a stiff ride.

Lowering can be beneficial, though, as it improves the handling, and gives a sportier stance to the car.

Also, welcome to the forum. :D

Yeah they do look better a little lowered. the thing is although the ones im getting for a good price are currently low profile, the tires are 205/45/16 which would mean lowering it may cause probs?

when i first got 16's on mine it looked like a 4x4
so i'd recommend at least getting some -40mm springs and keeping the original dampers or going all out with Coilovers

Would this still be able to carry a full car of people without rubbing even when cornering?
