For christmas i got a set of alpine type g 16.5cm component speakers to upgrade the standard door speakers. So at the weekend i took off my doorcard to get a rough idea of how to fit them. i noticed that the original speakers were riveted in so drilled these out and popped out the speaker. Now i noticed that the speaker is mounted on a kinda plastic spacer obviously because the window comes down behind the speaker.
So im guessing i will need to mount my new speakers on some sort of spacer? and would these do?

also id imagine it would be easier to wire up component speakers if they were amped? as then the amp would connect to the crossover unit and then this would connect to both the woofer and tweeter?
