i like it to, but dont think i would get much trade in value on my 06 polo gti :(

How much for a new gti? 16 grand?

what would everyone go for, 6 speed box or the 7 speed DSG?

Think the engine really lets the new GTI down, buts it looks amazing!!! :-)

How tunable is the 1.4 TSFI? Its never going to be as tunable as the 1.8T which attracts me more to the current GTI.

I wouldn't say that it lets it down I am sure it will be better than thestd 1.8t in its std form and it appears to have more torque however time will tell how far it will be able to be tuned watch the seat forum as the ibiza has the same engine and I am sure there will be some keen boys out there looking to tune it to the max.

On another note I am well impressed with the basic model so I am sure the gti will be the dogs bollock when it finally arrives hopefully for me anyway in diesel form and not a 1.2 or 1.4 version.

I really like it but a GTI with a 7 Speed DSG box is going to cost a small fortune :(

Give me a manual anyday. I like to feel I'm driving it. Shame it doesn't come out til the end of the year. It would of been a serious contender with the Abarth 500 SS and I wouldn't of ordered one maybe ;)

It's coming in late summer, according to sources at VW UK. I should think it'll be around £16,000+ as the top-spec SEL is around £14,500...

There's even an ex-press office demo car on the Volkswagen UK website which is only a 1.4 84bhp SEL with DSG and 17" alloys for £17,500!

If there are any fluent French/German speakers , they can give us a translation of the spec list, but it is fairly easy to work out in a basic forma anyway.

The price on theSwiss market is Swiss Francs (CHF) 31,200. The Fabia vRS is CHF 29,900 and the Ibiza cupra CHF 29,950
I think that gives us some idea where the UK price might be. With the likes of Clio RS and Corsa VXR about £17,500, I reckon the Polo will be as the press have suggested about £18K. Remember when the last Polo GTI came out it was £5K cheaper than the Golf GTI. The in 3dr form is now £24K, but a Polo at £19K would be just too much. About £18K seems roughly competitive with the competition.

Sorry Polodriver, I think you are well wide of the mark with £16K estimate.
Hope you like it and I'll put some more photos up shortly

The GTI shown in the pics above is fairly highly speced with 7 gear DSG, Climotronic, ESP, RDS 310 radio, 'Winter packet' and some stuff I can't read.

I read the price as CHF35,980 for this spec. That's £22,410 at today's rate.

In Switzerland there is no car tax and VAT is 7.8%, but that simply means dealers and manufacturers and importers make a profit. The Swiss on the road price is generally the same as the UK. I bought the 1.4 16V petrol with DSG and all extras except park assist and paid CHF29,000 in December 2009 (about £18,000) excluding a set of winter wheels and tyres.

VW are doing their best to push the Polo up market, as they are with the Golf.

That was £16k when no new information had been released. Of course, now we know it's coming in the summer, and with an £18k(ish) price ticket. A lot of money, sure, especially when it'll be up against things like the Renaultsport Clio 200 and not forgetting the SEAT Ibiza Cupra and Fabia vRS with the same engine. And the Skoda will cost £16k!

Footage of the car in action here: http://www.polodriver.com/polo-2009/new ... -released/ or (the same) here: https://www.youtube*.com/polodrivertv
