Welcome (almost) to the world of polos :)

The Mk's are easy enough:

Mk1:
(Started as Audi 50)
1975-1981

Mk2:
1981-1990

Mk3:
1990-1994

Mk4:
1994-1999

Mk5:
1999-2002
Image

Mk6:
2002 onwards

Hopefully I got those dates right..

I'd guess the one you're looking at is a mk5, enjoy it :)

Yeah, you can replace mk4 --> mk6 with 6n, 6n2 and 9n. I don't think it actually stands for anything, it's just vw's code names for the cars.

You wont be hated on here for not knowing much about the gorgeous polo. I know bugger all about it but so far people have been incredibley helpfull and nice :) thank you all. :D.

The latter part of your statement however, you may be chased away by a group of angry people holding clubs and bats
