VAG-COM?

Post by aaronon »

I've heard you guys talking about Vag Com.

I just drove my car and it jumped when I went into first and took off (like I was a learner lol but it wasn't actually anything I was doing wrong). . .I then moved into second and put the foot down but it went pretty slowly and chuggy-ish until it got to about 2000 revs and then it greatly picked up speed.

I don't know what this is and have heard the VAGCOMS would tell me what the problem is.

I've looked on eBay and there are leads for 9.99. . .is this all I need? Or do you guys buy some kind of actual machine?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Cheers man.

I thought you'd just need the cable and some free software. I think I'll give the system a miss as it's quite pricey.

Vag Com will tell you if you have thrown a code, but an intermittent bit of extra boost is not likely to show up as a fault.

Unless you know how to read the info, drive and data log at same time (eg laptop) I would not worry too much.

Have you modded the car? Were you holding revs or accelerating when it happened?
