W8 Interior Light

Post by MGrove03 »

Does anybody know how much these are from the dealers?

I've been offered one at £45 posted is that not a bit much for an interior light?

These can be fitted into a 9N3? Never knew that! I might have to look into one. But the cheapest I have seen is around that mark as well.

Thats about what I paid for mine from Kufatec, with the adaptor loom as well. Well worth it though, makes a huge difference to the interior at night!

I never got round to taking any pics of mine. From a google search these look the most like they do in a polo:

They aren't fantastic pics but show the general idea...
Fitting is well easy, plug and play with the required adaptor. Only thing is you need to solder one wire into your sidelights at the switch to get the backlights to work. However, it will only fit if you have the small interior light with a single bulb - if you have the larger light with the maplights in it then it won't fit.

Soldering won't be too hard. And I am not to keen on the yellow lights. Could easily be replaced though, what are the mood lights like? Are they effective? And can they be changed? As I have a blue interior with blue footwell neons.

***EDIT*** One for sale for £40 if your interested? Could try and test your skills of haggling and try and lower the price? :D

Mood lights are just LEDs, if you're reasonably confident with electronics then I don't think it would be too hard. They are epic though, really make a difference and put a cool glow on your hand when changing gear/radio station. Bulbs are W5W ones, which I think are the bulbs for the sidelights? Should be easy to change.
If you have a blue interior, you might be interested in this, found it in my favourites lol: http://www.foxytech.hostcell.net/w8_light_leds.htm

Anyone fitted one to a Polo with a alarm + interior motion sensors? Just wanting to know if it's doable as the motion sensors appear to be built into the base of the lamp. Any ideas? I've got a 9n btw, but I'm presuming it's pretty much the same in the 9n3.

Looks unbelievable. I may have to consider! And I agree with K.I.T.T, is it doable?

My car has an aftermarket alarm fitted, so I have no clue how the standard equipment alarm is fitted, or how difficult it would be to transfer the motion sensors across. Can't be too difficult though. This is a pic of my standard interior light:

This is the only one which can be swapped for the w8 light, as the other (larger) one makes a bigger hole in the headlining. Is yours the same with the standard alarm fitted? I've just taken a (really quick) look at it, and I can't see how any motion sensors could be fitted. May be wrong though...
