First Hello!

Post by garywatt »

Hello everyone

Just registered today!

Took delivery of my new Polo (UK 10 registration) on Monday. 1.4 SEL, Silver, 4 door, tinted back windows and 17" Boavista wheels. Looks pretty smart. Preferred the 5 door over the 3 as the three did not look right. Will look fantastic on the GTI though :D

A bit of a change for me as previously driven Mini Cooper's for the past 10 years. Last one was a Cooper S and I do notice the difference in power but I will get used to it.

Not had the chance to have a good run in it yet but I am happy so far. Ride seems smoother and quieter than the Cooper S.

Only problem I have is that the SEL comes complete with chrome centre grille and air duct surrounds.......my one is missing them. Awaiting the dealer to come back to me. Hope the parts don't have to come from South Africa!

Hoping to get some photos over the weekend.

Regards

Gary, Aberdeen.

Sounds Good Gary

I can't wait to see some pics of it. The new Polo's really are nice, I think the styling has vastly improved from the 9N3 Model.

Guys

Thanks for the comments.

Will feek a little paranoid going out taking some pics of it but will see whan I can do.

I started looking for a new car mid last year. When I look for a new car the first thing I go for is looks. There was not much to choose from in the price range I was looking for. I never really considered the Polo before. I never really liked the look of the Golf. Pretty sure one day I was surfing the net and came across some pics of the Polo 2010. I was impressed straight away. I really is a good looker. Some reviews I read were comparing it to the Fiesta but have to say that the Polo wins hands down on looks. A sturdy bugger of a car. I know a good looking car when I see it.

Stopped off at Tesco this morning and parked it a bit away so I could get some time to look at it while walking back. Very nice :D

I'll add some pics as soon as I can.............might have to wash it first though

Cheers

First things first, Welcome to the forum Gary.

There isn't many choice out there your right, it is really just between the Polo and the Fiesta, I have seen comparisons on youtube and although the Fiests DOES look nice, I have actually been to the ford dealership (shoot me, I know) and had a look at the fiesta, and the interior is just a bit... Tacky... And fake... Feels like your in a childs space shuttle! :P

However, I think you have made a great decision in choosing the Polo. A SEL drove past me the other day on the East Lancs, I missed my turning and drove an extra 2 miles because I was just driving next to it a admiring the looks! :P

Looking forward to seeing these pics!

Dealer called today to say my correct chrome grille and air vent surround are on their way from the factory. Hope to have them fitted soon.

Cheers

Quality! Is that reflex silver I see there! :P GOOD CHOICE! ;)

Also, be nice if you debadged the POLO and 1.4 as well. Looks a lot better with just the VW emblem.

But overall, you got a stunning head turner there! :D Great choice!

Hi Karson

Yes, reflex silver.

Wasn't too keen on the 1.4 badge. Not sure if it is easy to remove or if I can do it myself. Knowing my luck I would balls it up! A lot of folk going around today so a little shy about going out to take photos

Great choice of car mate. Welcome to the polo world :D
I'm not usually a fan of silver cars, but I must say yours looks pretty awesome. Those wheels really suit it too.

Aren't the badges just stuck on with adhesive? Shouldn't be too hard to remove...

Silver is always the best! REFLEX ALL THE WAY! :D

And it shouldn't be too hard to remove, it should be glued on quite tightly, pick it off with your nails, no screwdrivers or anything otherwise you could scratch the paintwork. Then you should clean it with some alcohol or something to make sure you removed all the adhesives.

Very nice I love it. When do you think your chrome grille will be on. I am in love with it. Have you got any pics of the interior? I'd like to take a closer look of the SEL interior, unless they are all the same?

What additional options did you choose?

Sorry for the questions :P Very interested as I have been thinking about the new Polo for awhile!

***EDIT*** Is that the factory tint? Or is it custom tint?

What are those markings on the rear window and rear quarter light? Mine doesn't have those.

Presumably this is a South African built Polo?

Hi all

Karson, definately glued on tightly. I'll hold off removing anything for a while. Not sure when the chrome parts will arrive. Presume these would come from SA. Couple of weeks may. Will keep you updated.
Got one pic of the dash but just looks like the ones you see on the web. Will process the pic if you want me to. Didn't go for many options at all, just the wheels, steering wheel and tint, yes factory tint.

Grey_polo, not sure what you mean about the rear quarter light. Back window heating elements may look enhanced due to the tint.

I think he may mean the dotted matrix around the window where the tint hasn't properly stuck down. It's what mine looks like :(
