Splitter help?

Post by 5509433 »

Hi, i finally got the time to take my bumper off and get to the splitter!

I took the bumper off, (hanging off) ..i didn't know how to completely remove it?!

Got to the splitter, i gave up trying to save it, so i cut all the clips.

Then i put my new one on and i cant get the ends to clip on.

Ive tried very hard and there not budging, i even resorted to a rubber mallet! Heres how they stand..

Its like that on both sides..

Any ideas?

are you sure the end clips are not broken? you can always use screws to tie it to the bumper

Nope there not broken. Just won't push in any more. I'll probably end up leaving it as it Is. It's not to noticable. I don't fancy putting screws in it either. Lol

most probably the holes in the bumper are loose or broken, maybe from when you removed the old splitter. Nahh try and fix it mate, it looks unprofessional and hurts the eyes :P

I had the same problem with mine... hit it in the middle like you did with a mallet to spread the weight out (i think that's what I mean) and that help push it in to place at both ends. Then I had to pull it quite hard on the last clip to get it to clip in... ended up bending the bumper and cracking the paint underneath the lacquer  ... maybe even the lacquer, not sure which. I wasn't too fussed about that though.

Get a rubber mallet and hit it in at the front - its because the splitter isnt lined up at the front of the bumper. work your way left and right gently hitting it in, then the sides should just clip in
